Before Cosmetic Surgery
Prior to a cosmetic surgery procedure you should not take
any anti-inflammatory medicines because they will increase
bleeding. Alcohol and smoking should be temporarily stopped
before surgery until your cosmetic surgeon indicates it is
okay. Your cosmetic surgeon will give certain dietary adjustments,
including vitamin intake, and other pre-operative instructions
to you. Too large of a vitamin intake causes your body to
bleed more easily. You will probably not be allowed to eat
or drink anything for the 24-hour period before the surgical
procedure. Transportation to and from surgery should be arranged
for your safety.
It is advised to exercise prior to cosmetic surgery to reach
the best results from the surgery. Exercise prior to a cosmetic
surgery procedure can increase skin blood flow, as well as
increase your joint looseness for a more comfortable surgery.
You should maintain a healthy diet because after a cosmetic
surgery procedure you will burn up more protein.
Some patients may need to take prescriptions before arriving
at the hospital or operation site. Loose fitting clothing
is advised for your return home. Different procedures and
the patients different risk factors vary the amount
of time the patient has to stay before being discharged. Most
procedures, if they go as planned, will be on an out patient
basis.
